"Tsk tsk tsk tsk," Sabi ng Butiki

Good morning.

So, bakit ko 'to nakwento?

Iisipin nating matakaw masyado ang butiking kumakain ng ipis, yung greedy ba, pero 'wag nating kakalimutang pinaghirapan niya 'yun, and he deserves that.

Iisipin nating matakaw masyado ang taong tinutupad ang layaw niya, yung greedy ba, pero 'wag nating kakalimutang pinaghirapan niya 'yun, and he deserves that.

Pero, ngayon, dahil sa butiki, narealize kong pinaghirapan nilang makuha lahat ng natatanggap nila ngayon, and they deserve that.

Pero tao tayo, hindi butiki.

Magsulat Ka...

It's time to use the power of your mind, which is imagination.

TAPOS!!!

"We have seen the dawn!!!" (clap clap clap)
Pero masaya ako kasi so far, so good...

I have fought with all my heart in all those years

Now, a new hero comes along
With the strength to carry on,
Who has cast his fears aside
Though he know not if he’ll survive

And I finally see that’s him
Who i sought in all those years

CLAUDIO: hey! That belongs to me! It’s mine!

MAXIMINA: and who gave you permission to claim it?

HERMANA: hey, you two, respect the food and don’t fight in front of it!

CLAUDIO: but it should be mine because I want more, shouldn’t it?

[ELIAS will get it instead to stop the fighting of his children]

CLAUDIO: can I have it, tatay?

ELIAS: no, just eat your share

CLAUDIO: but it’s not enough for me!

ELIAS: MAKE IT!

[music starts]

Paraiso, take us by the hand

This tired and hungry place could expect
Some bless and hope and respect
From the rest of the world
Paraiso…

But wherever you go, whatever you do
I will be right here, waiting for you
Whatever it takes or how my heart breaks
I will be right here, waiting for you

ELIAS and SALOME: i wonder how we can survive our romance

And the end is not in sight

[ELIAS will slowly sit to his mat and get a small envelope and a piece of paper money under the mat, and a piece of paper in his pocket which is his letter to his family; he will close his eyes and will pray]
[ELIAS and SALOME will sing]

ELIAS and SALOME: I pray we'll find your light
And hold it in our hearts
When stars go out each night
Remind us where you are

Let this be our prayer

[many years later, ELIAS comes home; all his children is in the right side of the stage except CLAUDIO; SALOME is in the middle stage; he will enter]

I wish I was in your love
And feeling good have cost a lot of things
The pain I felt is different kind of pain

[ELIAS will hold SALOME’s wrists]
ELIAS: I’m already home
‘Tis a place where I belong
Where your love has always been enough for me
I had been lonely from
And I think I was all wrong
But I don’t regret this life I chose for me
But I miss you and this place where I belong
I’m already home
I’m already home…

[SALOME will hug his husband; their children will also go to them and hug them]
[music fades]

ELIAS: so, where’s Claudio?
[everyone will look at each other; but JOSEFA will be the one who will tell ELIAS about CLAUDIO]

JOSEFA: tatay, don’t be shocked for what I will tell you… he joined a rebel group in this province months later. We didn’t know it—
ELIAS: what? Where is he? I need to stop this insane decision of him at once! Claudio? Claudio?! Claudio!
[lights off; curtain close]

Scene 2
(Untitled – Simple Plan)

ELIAS: Claudio…

CLAUDIO:  tay?

ELIAS: Claudio, where have you been? I heard that you— hey…

[music will start for chorus]
[CLAUDIO will ignore him and will walk past ELIAS; ELIAS will try to stop him but the CLAUDIO will be angry]

CLAUDIO: why did you do this to us?!!
You’ve made a mistake
Got nowhere to run
The night goes on as you’re fading away
Do you see what you’ve done?
Our father is gone
Why did you do this to me?!

[ELIAS will not move in shock; CLAUDIO will just stand; HERMANA will enter the scene]

HERMANA: why are you screaming?
Don’t you think it’s childish to act rashly?

CLAUDIO: he deserved worse than this
Unrespectable, he is
Leaving his fam’ly in vain…

[HERMANA will go to CLAUDIO and will try to comfort him]

HERMANA: I’ll ask you to hold
This man here, he left us for our sake
For us to live a life of living,
We’re not in vain for what he should have done
No, we’re not

CLAUDIO: but he still did this to us
Still made a mistake
Got nowhere to run
The night went on as he faded away
Do you see what he’d done?
Our father is gone
He still did this to me

[CLAUDIO will exit the stage; HERMANA will try to follow him but ELIAS will stop her]
[music stop; lights off; curtain close]

Scene 3
(I will be here)
[start music; curtain open; lights on]

LAKANDULA: every secret has it ways to expose itself, and when it happens, a great sacrifice will be made for a great purpose…

[ELIAS and his family is in the middle of the stage; they’re like having a good time with each other; CLAUDIO will enter the scene with blood and bruises all over his body; ELIAS will catch his son’s nearly failing body; LAURA will cry; HERMANA will caress her while looking at CLAUDIO; MAXIMINA and JOSEFA will tend to SALOME who are nearly fainting; a GUARDIA CIVIL will enter to the scene, banging the door; he will point his gun to CLAUDIO; ELIAS will stand up and will try to stop him; the GUARDIA will be able to attack ELIAS in the stomach and head; ELIAS will faint and fall; the GUARDIA will point the gun to CLAUDIO again but he will see SALOME running towards ELIAS; he will shoot SALOME; the GUARDIA will be shocked for what he have done and will quickly but hesitantly exit the stage; everyone will go to SALOME, mourning for what have happened; ELIAS will stand slowly]
[music will be strong]
[ELIAS will quickly grab SALOME; their children will comfort each other]

CLAUDIO: tomorrow morning, oh please wake up,
You should see the sun appear
ah, you should be here

HERMANA: without you, we’ll lose sight of love
Hold our hands, we’ll have no fear
ah, ah please be here

ALL (except for CLAUDIO and LAURA): oh, please be here
We’ll be lost when you are quiet
When we need to speak our mind
You always listen
O please be here
Our laughter turns to crying
You’re the reason we are smiling
If we’re together

ELIAS: oh please be here… SALOME!!!

[lights off; music fades; close curtain]

Scene 4
(Only hope- Switchfoot)
[open curtain; lights on (light is slightly dim); music starts in low volume]

LAKANDULA: a sacrificed has been made for a great purpose. His son has persuaded him to join the rebel group, for he has great sense of leadership and now a strong urge to fight and to protect…

[after the incident of SALOME being killed, ELIAS has been persuaded by CLAUDIO to join the KILUSAN; the KILUSAN is making its business in the right side of the stage; ANDRES is in the middle of the stage; ELIAS and CLAUDIO will enter in to the scene; the KILUSAN will stop doing their business and will scrutinize ELIAS]

ELIAS: are we here?

CLAUDIO: yes father
[CLAUDIO will continue to walk towards ANDRES to “say” the KILUSAN’s “code”]

[ANDRES will look to ELIAS]

ANDRES: Claudio, who is this man?

ELIAS: I’m Elias, Claudio’s—

ANDRES: first rule: do not answer if you’re not asked

CLAUDIO: he is Elias, a new recruit

ANDRES: hmm, so Elias, why are you here

ELIAS: I am here to give my support to the Kilusan

ANDRES: so, here’s the Kilusan. Let you introduce yourself, and give the reason why you are here.

[ELIAS will look to the KILUSAN and vice versa]
ELIAS: good evening, everyone

KILUSAN: good evening.

[the music will be at the normal volume]

ELIAS: there’s a sorrow inside of my soul
And I tried to let go of it over and over again
Without her it is infinite cold
Hear her sing to me over and over and over again

When she laid her head back down
I lifted my hands and prayed
Her life is yours
I prayed, she’s only yours
I know now, you’re my only hope

[music will slowly have a low volume; ANDRES will walk towards ELIAS, along a member of the KILUSAN who is holding a book, a paper, and a quill]

ANDRES: now for our rite of passage,
[ANDRES will get his knife and will cut his wrist and ELIAS’]
Give me your right arm
[ELIAS will give his arm; they will shake their hands]
Now, we will fight for one cause: to fight for our right to live justly and die satisfyingly. For the Kilusan.

ELIAS: for the Kilusan

KILUSAN: for the Kilusan! Long live the Philippines!

[lights off; music stop; curtain close]

Scene 5
(Dare You to Move - Switchfoot)

LAKANDULA: he has been lonely for some time, and it made him feel isolated from other people than his family and the rebel group, but he has not lost his attitude of helping people in need, even those who discriminate their skin…
[open curtain; lights on]

[HERMANA is in the right side of the stage, making some errands; ELIAS, along with the KASTILA, enters the scene and put the wounded KASTILA in the mat]

ELIAS: Hermana, help me here

[HERMANA will stop what she is doing and will help her father]
HERMANA:  Tay, who is this man?

ELIAS: I don’t know. I just caught him being battered by two youngsters in the forest. Please get some warm water and towel, and take care of him. If you need anything, I’ll be outside.

 HERMANA: ok Tay

[ELIAS will exit; HERMANA will be getting a warm water and a towel; she will go back to take care of the KASTILA; after a while, the KASTILA will wake up and will try to stand quickly; he wouldn’t be able to do so, for his body is still injured; HERMANA will call ELIAS while helping the KASTILA to sit]

HERMANA: Tatay! Tatay! He is awake

[music start]
KASTILA: hey, why are you helping me? i mean, it’s not bad to help, but I’m not an Indio, and I didn’t do anything to you for you to help me…

HERMANA: welcome to the real world
Welcome to existence
Love is always here
Love is always here

Everybody’s watching you now
Everybody cares for you now
You’re not an Indio, you said
You’re still a man, we say

[ELIAS will enter to the scene and will sit beside the KASTILA]

KASTILA: I cannot believe,
You said this is the real?
All this time I thought you are not good

ELIAS: I dare you to move
From the lies, oh you move
You can be enlightened
for what good we do to you

HERMANA: maybe there are hidden stories to tell
Maybe you’ll know it whenever you’re there
Now that you know what’s real, yourself
What you’ll gonna do?
What you’ll gonna do?
Love is here...

KASTILA: I can help you to move
From this house, you can move
I can give you some works to do

I can help you to move
From this house to a new,
You can work as a Keeper,
Of the gates of our Office
You can have all you want, then,
For helping me, I can repay you
[music fades]

[ELIAS will look to HERMANA; he’ll look back to the KASTILA and will nod]

KASTILA: ok then, you can start tomorrow

ELIAS: ok

[lights off; music stop; curtain close]

ACT 3
Scene 1
(Bad - MJ)

LAKANDULA: the opposing actions of great men towards what people think they should do have fruits of sweeter results, for this is caress with adversity far beyond the limit of a normal man. He is working in the Spanish Office for several weeks now as a keys keeper. He holds every door’s keys of every room in the whole office. But the only one I’ve ever known
Here is where it goes
And it’s home to me and I want it more

It is an empty street
And it holds for me my broken dreams
It’s where I can sleep
I’m just only one and i sleep alone
I sleep alone, I sleep alone
I sleep alone, I sleep a—

ANDRES: your shadow’s not the only one beside you
And maybe you close your heart so you can’t feel them
If you are lost, why don’t you let them find you?
Till then, you sleep alone

CLAUDIO: I wish a higher life
That will put me somewhere in the light
But for now, my life
Is in the edge of getting lost alone

ANDRES: contentment in your life
Other than that, then everything’s all right
Check your vital signs to know you’re still alive
Then you’re not alone
You’re not alone, you’re not alone
You’re not alone, you’re not a—

CLAUDIO: my shadow’s not the only one beside me
And maybe i close my heart so i can’t feel them
And I am lost, but they just cannot find me
Till then, i am alone
